Language Learning Tools

Using the tools of language learning are more important than finding the “ultimate, best, magic-bullet resource” that will make language learning effortless and painless for you.

That is not going to happen.

But, you do need to gather a number of language learning tools.

These tools can be inexpensive, but you cannot just check out a book from the local library to study from. Why?

Well…

  • You have to use (check out) the book for a long time (think in terms of a year or more)
  • You need to write in the book

Besides, you might just build deeper subconscious ownership of the language learning process if you have a book of your own.

Other tools that you will need include:

  • An English-Spanish Dictionary – (Make sure that it has enough words)
  • A Phrase Book – Important but not sufficient for learning a language
  • Recorded Native-Speaker Materials, i.e., courses and learn while you drive review materials
  • Flash Cards
  • A Voice Recorder/ Tape Recorder
  • A Grammar Book – The more concise the better
  • Reading Materials – Even children’s reading books will do
  • A Newspaper in the Target Language – Anchors your learning to the real world
  • Internet Access
  • The Ability to Record your Voice on a Computer is a plus
  • Courage – to find Native Speakers and practice the target language with them

But, do not worry about grammar. The rules and nuances of Spanish grammar will come in due time. Don’t rush. Remain stress-free and comfortable in your language learning.
